PASS THE MESSAGE WITH A TWIST!

FACIAL MESSAGE RELAY

The objective of this game is to pass on the correct message to the last person in line. Our class was divided into three groups.

 Mechanics of the game:
  • The value of each facial gesture is as follows:
a) Raising the eyebrows = 1,000
b) Nose movement = 100
c) Kiss motion = 10
d) Wink  = 1
  • Instruct the first people in the line to relay a certain numerical value using the designated facial gestures only. For instance, if the value is 1,295, the participants must relay 1 raising the eyebrows, 2 nose movements, 9 kissing motions, and 5 winks.
  • Each participant must face away from the first person in each line. Once a person has been tapped, he/she must focus on the facial message relayed, and pass it on to the next person.
  • Once the message has been successfully passed to the last person in line, the last person will write the value on a piece of paper.
  • The teams to relay the correct message first wins.
Scoring System:
  • 10 points - first team to relay the correct message
  • 5 points - second team to relay the correct message
  • 2 points - last team to relay the correct message

It was a very fun experience. In my group, which is group 2, I am second to the last person who will relay the message. The first person is Aljane, then Rianne, Justin, Me, and Kurt. I loved the cooperation and unity of our team. Even though there are some situations that we can't avoid to laugh because it is very awkward to do those facial gestures in front of your classmate, we still managed to relay the message to the last person in line.

As the activity continues, the value that was given to us was increasing. So our group think about some strategies and techniques. Although sometimes we were the first team to relay the correct message, there are also times that we are the second one, and the last one to relay the message.

Based on the scores above, we almost got the 2nd place. and the Group 3 almost got the First place. That's because, on the very last game, the twist is, the first one who will get the correct message will got 50 points. However, maybe because of our determination to win, all groups didn't get the correct message. So Sir Haren said that he would choose the group who has the closest answer to the correct message. Our group's answer was 94,000 something. But in the last minute, we decided to add "0", it became 940,000. While Group 1, who almost lose, has the answer 93,000 something. In the end, they were the one who won the game.

Sadly, we were the last place. We almost won!

The lesson that I got in this activity is that we should be careful in passing the message. We should make sure that the information that we got is correct. Once there will be a missed number, it would affect the whole message.

To sum it all, I recommend you to play this activity in your class, in your home, or wherever you are. It will also enhance your ability to understand the message and be able to relay the message correctly. It also enhances your memorization skills. And it is really fun and enjoyable!

Thank You!
