DEBATE TIME!

IS INFORMATION LITERACY A FAD AND A WASTE OF TIME?


Information literacy involves recognizing when information is needed and being able to efficiently locate, accurately evaluate, effectively use, and clearly communicate information in various formats.

For me, it is not a fad and a waste of time because why is it a waste of time when you gain information and knowledge? In our life, we have to keep on learning and experiencing something new. That's how we will grow and survive in this world.

Both teams defended their side very well. The affirmative team said that, yes, it is a waste of time because you have your common sense. All started with common sense.

As one of the opposing team, I get their point that it all started with common sense. Because how can you learn something if you dont have common sense, right? However, I still believe that yes, we have common sense, but it should not limit ourselves in gaining and learning more informations. And we also need a lot of time in gaining informations since we have to evaluate if the information that we got is valid. We also have to know how to effectively use the information. So how is it a waste of time?

Unfortunately, our team, got 13 out of 15 points. While the affirmative team, got 15 out of 15 points.

But, the debate was fun and I really like having a debate because I love gaining information. And by this, I can see how our classmates share their opinion and perspective about a certain topic.


LIBRARY OR INTERNET?


Today, if you ask someone where is the best place to research a topic, the most answer you may probably get is "google/internet" or a few of them might answer "library." That's because of the change that is happening right now. Nowadays, people are more engaged in technologies. Thankfully, there are some people who still prefers the library. 

There are advantages and disadvantages for the two. Here are some that I gained from the debate:

LIBRARY
advantages: 
- reliable sources
-trained professionals available for assistance
disadvantages:
- restrictions
- not accessible to all

INTERNET
advantages:
- most convenient way to gather information
- time saver
- up-to-date information
- has available different learning styles
disadvantages:
- unreliable information
- distraction
- easily changed or removed
- sources are harder to identify

During the debate, the 2 groups did very well. The winning team was the library team. 

To sum it all, it was a good debate and fun experience. I hope there's more debate to come. :)

FACIAL MESSAGE RELAY The objective of this game is to pass on the correct message to the last person in line. Our class was divided into three groups.  Mechanics of the game:  The value of each facial gesture is as follows: a) Raising the eyebrows = 1,000 b) Nose movement = 100 c) Kiss motion = 10 d) Wink  = 1 Instruct the first people in the line to relay a certain numerical value using the designated facial gestures only. DATI (dance interpretation)

DATI November 12, 2018 The song "DATI" was composed by Thyro Alfaro and Yumi Lacsamana who won the PhilPop 2013 winning song which earned for them a grand prize of P1 million. Sam Concepcion, Tippy dos Santos and Quest interpreted the award-winning song and made a music video of the song. Their song, "Dati," is a throwback to the good old days of a first romance and how, in many ways, some things never change. In our MIL Class, we were tasked to show our interpretation about the song through dancing. We were all excited for this activity since this is a new challenge for us. However, due to lack of time, we felt pressured and nervous because maybe we can't perform well. But my group mates and I really work hard to come up with a good dance interpretation. Traditional VS. New Age Have you heard about " The Worlds Hardest Game"? If not, check it out when you have a free time! If yes, I already knew how you felt when playing that game. It is literally the hardest online game that I ever played! During our MIL Class, we had two different activities. the first one is to spot 12 differences in each picture, and the second one is what I am telling you to try and play it. The "spot the differences" activity is by group, we have 3 members in each group, in a total of 7 groups. The mechanics of the game is just to find the 12 differences in each picture, then the first one who will finish early will receive additional 5 points. And the winning group will have the chance to evaluate other groups in our next activities. So, I and my groupmates helped each other and our strategy is each of us will have one picture each.
